HEALing Together is a family-based eating disorder treatment group designed for youth aged 14 to 17 and their caregiver(s). Depending on the offering, the group may be structured as a joint program where youth and caregiver(s) attend together to learn, grow, and heal collaboratively, or as a parent-only series focused on equipping caregivers with tools to support their child’s recovery. This multi-modal group draws from Emotion-Focused Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, providing a comprehensive and supportive framework for healing. HEALing Together is a closed group, meaning participants who begin together remain together throughout the program. This creates a sense of familiarity and safety, fostering rich opportunities for connection, learning, and shared growth. |

HEALing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little bit to find it.
Eating Disorder Treatment
I approach therapy for disordered eating with a collaborative and integrative lens, tailoring treatment to the unique needs of each individual and their family. In working toward recovery, I incorporate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to provide practical tools for managing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. These modalities are particularly effective in supporting the healing process as clients actively work through recovery.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is often a key focus in the early stages of treatment. Many individuals struggling with an eating disorder may feel ambivalent about therapy or uncertain about change. MI helps clients explore their own motivations and discover their personal “why” for making meaningful changes in their lives. For caregivers and family members, Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) offers powerful tools to support a loved one’s recovery. EFFT teaches caregivers how to become effective allies against the disorder by providing validation, understanding, and practical strategies for navigating the challenges of recovery. This approach addresses common caregiver concerns, such as knowing how to respond or empathize when a loved one is struggling. Recovery is a journey, and I am committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where individuals and families can work together to heal and thrive. |
