About ShannonI hold a Master of Social Work Degree (MSW) specializing in Clinical Practice. Along with, graduate certificates encompassing Infant, Child, and Adolescent Mental Health and Advanced Social Work Practice. As a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Alberta College of Social Worker's (ACSW) I have been in good standing with the regulatory board since 2007.
Having started my career at the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society, I worked front line supporting individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. Following this, I transitioned into a clinical role working with children, youth and families impacted by moderate to severe mental health concerns. In 2022, I ventured into private practice and work with people across the lifespan. In varying arenas that I have worked within, my practice has been rooted in an attachment based framework and a trauma informed lens. |
A combination of my education, work experience, and being a mom of twins has helped shape how I work people and families.
Over the years I have successfully completed training ranging from: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy, Biofeedback, and Emotion Focused Family Therapy. In this, I have developed an eclectic practice, whereby, I draw from evidence based approaches to help meet individual needs in a playful, empathetic and collaborative manner. Special Interests of mine encompass working with concerns surrounding Anxiety, Depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Eating Disorders. When I’m not working and don’t have my head in the books for ongoing training, you will find me putting Lego sets together with my kids, helping my husband with home reno’s or playing with our two dachshund pup's. |
